12 Open Door, Open Mind

Open Door, Open Mind is an interactive installation that attempts to address the importance of empathy — seeing from another’s perspective for a better human connection. In the interaction, viewers can affect the movement of people in a video by opening and closing a physical door in a public space. code
This is a small prototype made by cardboard and a laptap. Every opening leads to different people in a sequence. Their behaviors are affected by the angle of the small door. And after several times, the video mode will switch into a real-time video shooting from upper screen(Now the doorway is too dark to show real-time video). I attached a potentiometer to a paper door joint in the small model. Here is the value reading from the potentiometer and a video sample playing with percentage of its value.
